Intake for Mental Health Services

Mental Health Intake Services Information: 

– To reach the Intake Line, call (940) 381-5000 and press option #5.

– The Denton County MHMR Center offers both scheduled and walk-in appointments.

– Denton Location: 2519 Scripture St., Denton, Texas 76201 (Adults)

– Flower Mound Location: 1001 Cross Timbers, Suite 1250, Flower Mound, TX 75028 (Adults and Children)

– Mckinney Street Outpatient Clinic: 3835 Morse St., Denton, Texas 76208 (Children)

– The intake office is open from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday. You can have virtual appointments from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm. The whole process may take 2-3 hours.

What Documents Do I Need to Bring? 

You need to bring proof of where you live, proof of how much money you make, your insurance info, and a Texas ID or driver’s license (if you have one) to get help from the Center.

– Proof of residence can be your current car insurance, a utility bill, a copy of your lease, or a letter from the person you live with saying you stay with them. This letter should also include a utility bill or another bill in their name that has the same address.

– If you have no income, you should bring a “no income statement” and a letter from the person giving you food and shelter.

Financial Information Disclosure:

The mental health services are paid for by the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) and local government funds. The Center will not turn anyone away if they cannot pay. The cost of services depends on your income and family size. The Center makes sure that everyone is treated fairly when it comes to paying. They can explain how the charges are decided and answer any questions you have about fees or pay.

Information Needed/Eligibility:

You need to provide financial information, and different payment sources will be used to see if you qualify for services. Please bring your insurance card, Medicaid card, and Reward Letters when you come for your appointment. Make sure to show your insurance information at the front desk when you arrive.

– Medicaid (must be in Denton County)

– CHIP

– Amerigroup Medicaid

– Cigna Health Springs Medicaid

– Aetna Medicaid

– Cook/Beacon Medicaid

– Superior Foster Care only

– Traditional Medicare (the only Medicare Part C we accept is with Amerigroup/Amerivantage)

No Surprises Act (NSA) 

Starting January 1, 2022, the No Surprises Act (NSA) was put in place. Its goal is to protect people who do not have insurance or who pay for their own medical bills from getting unexpectedly high charges.

For Community Centers, the NSA requires healthcare providers to give a Good Faith Estimate (GFE) of expected costs in writing if someone is uninsured or paying on their own. This should be done when they ask or when they schedule their health services.

The GFE rule does not apply to people with Medicaid, Medicare, Indian Health Services, Veterans Affairs Health Care, TRICARE, or federal employee health programs. These programs have different protections against high bills.

If someone without insurance or who pays for their own care is charged more than $400 over the estimate, they can start a Patient-Provider Dispute Resolution Process (PPDR) by asking for HHS.

Information Regarding Waitlist

The Center is currently experiencing a high volume of individuals seeking support. To ensure that each person receives the high-quality care they deserve, we have implemented a waitlist for our behavioral health services.

Our intake team will continue to meet with you to guide you through the process and connect you with appropriate resources and community referrals while you wait for Center services to become available. If you choose to remain on the waitlist, you will receive regular follow-up phone calls to provide ongoing support and help address any needs that may arise.
