Child & Adolescent Services

Denton County MHMR offers outpatient child and adolescent services for ages 3-17. Case managers are advocates for your youth and assist in locating both internal and external resources that may meet your child and family needs. The goal of this program is to work with your family to:

  • improve your quality of life
  • reduce symptoms 
  • build coping skills and strategies 
  • reduce hospitalizations
  • enhance relationships 
  • work with your child on setting and meeting recovery plan goals 
  • empower and educate your child to lead an independent and fulfilling life
Child & Adolescent Services

Case Management

Case managers will work with your child and the family to address needs and recovery plan goals, while also assisting in coordinating community resources. 

Skills Training

Skills training is provided to both you and your child to acquire and improve skills aimed at increasing your child’s ability to thrive in the community.

Counseling Services

Individual therapy in an office-based setting that focuses on the treatment of emotional disturbance are available for individuals who qualify. All counseling services are time limited. All our Counselors are fully licensed and utilize evidence-based practices, which include:

  • cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT)
  • Trauma Informed cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)

Family Partner

Family partners are active members of the intensive case management team and provide peer mentoring and support to the primary caregivers. They work with your family and help navigate the treatment process.

Medication Services

The Center provides a wide array of Psychiatric and Medication Services for individuals we serve. Our team of professionals include psychiatrists, Psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered nurses, Licensed Vocational Nurses, and support staff.

Services provided include 

  • psychiatric evaluations.
  •  medication management.
  • provide education and training on identifying and managing your symptoms and side effects
  • assisting consumers in accessing Pharmacy Assistance Programs. 
  • helping consumers in their medication adherence by assisting them with med box filling.

We work with you to treat the signs and symptoms of mental illness, to promote safe and effective use of medications and assist you in reaching your desired wellness and recovery goals and improve your quality of life.

Wraparound Services

Denton County MHMR offers Wraparound Services to those who qualify. This program depends on participation of individuals involved in all aspects of your youth’s life. In Wraparound services the team will develop a plan, along with you and your youth, and explore community-based services that will help your child reach their recovery plan goals. Your services will be guided by a facilitator who will work closely with you and the community to wrap around your child and help meet their needs. 

YES Waiver

The YES (Youth Empowerment Services) Waiver is a 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver that helps children and adolescents with serious mental, emotional and behavioral difficulties. The YES Waiver provides intensive services delivered within a strengths based team planning process called Wraparound.
