Individuals with Mental Illnesses in Denton County may qualify to receive Case Management Services, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Skills Training, or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. They may also be given referrals and helped to access alternate community resources. Crisis Hotline

The Denton County MHMR Center Crisis Hotline is available to address any Mental Health Crisis situation. To access the Crisis Hotline call 1-800-762-0157 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Mobile Crisis Outreach Team (MCOT)

Denton County MHMR Center Mobile Crisis Outreach Teams are available to provide face-to-face assessments for any individual in psychiatric crisis within Denton County. A Mobile Crisis Outreach Team consists of two mental health professionals. The Team will work with the individual in crisis to determine the least restrictive treatment setting appropriate to address the individual’s needs. MCOTs will respond anywhere in Denton County 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Hospital Liaison

The Hospital Liaison monitors and advocates for all individuals admitted to the state hospitals. Our Hospital Liaison visits North Texas State Hospital on a weekly basis. Upon discharge from the hospital, individuals meet with the hospital liaison for assistance with community reintegration.

Intake and Referral

Individuals seeking services through DCMHMR are assessed during an intake appointment to determine whether they are eligible for services. Individuals not eligible are referred to a more appropriate provider.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, a form of counseling, is available to individuals who qualify. This therapy focuses on the reduction or elimination of an individual’s symptoms of mental illness and on increasing the individual’s ability to perform activities of daily living.

Skills Training

Skills training addresses the symptom-related problems associated with an individual’s mental illness or behavioral disorder that interferes with that individual’s functioning. Through skills training, an individual is provided opportunities to acquire and improve skills needed to function as appropriately and independently as possible in their community.

Psychiatric

Individuals are provided psychiatric evaluation, treatment options which may include medication, monitoring, and clinical consultation with a licensed psychiatrist and a qualified nursing professional.
